Microsoft 365 E7

Microsoft 365 E7 reached general availability on May 1, 2026, as the first new enterprise licensing tier Microsoft has introduced since E5 launched in 2015. Priced at $99 per user per month, E7 bundles four enterprise-grade components into a single SKU designed for organizations moving beyond AI experimentation and into full AI deployment.
What’s Included
- Microsoft 365 E5: The full enterprise foundation: Microsoft Defender, Purview, Intune, and enterprise identity controls, covering security, compliance, and productivity at scale.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot: AI embedded directly into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Users work with AI inside the tools they already know, without adopting new platforms or workflows.
- Microsoft Entra Suite: Extended identity and access governance that applies Zero Trust principles across users, applications, data, and AI agents, going beyond what E5 previously covered.
- Agent 365: The new control plane for AI agent governance. A centralized registry giving IT and security teams full visibility into every agent running across the tenant, with integrated governance through Defender, Entra, and Purview.
- Work IQ: The intelligence layer running underneath Copilot and Agent 365 within E7. It continuously ingests signals from email, meetings, documents, and chats across Microsoft 365, building organizational context that allows Copilot and agents to understand how work actually happens across the organization rather than responding without context.
Built for Organizations That Are Already Running AI
E7 addresses a real operational challenge: as AI agents proliferate across an organization, teams deploy them independently, often without IT visibility into what those agents access or how they behave. Agent 365 brings every agent in the environment under a single governance layer, applying the same identity, access, and compliance controls organizations already use for employees.
For organizations where Copilot adoption sits on the roadmap for the next twelve months, and where AI agents already run across departments, the bundle math behind E7 produces a compelling case for consolidation.
Is E7 the Right Fit for Your Organization?
E7 delivers clear value for organizations running E5 with Copilot, or planning to. For organizations on Business Premium, or those with limited near-term AI adoption plans, the upgrade math gets thinner. Seat count, renewal timing, current licensing configuration, and promotional eligibility all factor into whether E7 makes sense before your next renewal.
